The scrubland is a dry zone miles wide, dotted with specks of stone and short, unwelcoming bushes. Most wildlife hides between the plant life here, scouring the angered branches for fruits and shade. Rodents and rabbits sleep among the twigs and stones, trying to ignore the inevitable storm.
The storm. The lightning strike that lights their world ablaze. The plants here have adapted their bodies to the fires, creating seeds that only drop in a blaze, hidden cores behind resistant walls, and even secreting flammable oils so that the fire may enrich the earth.
Rabbits are not fire-resistant.
Neither are most kitsunes.
Escape from a brush fire is far from impossible, especially for a magical being, but it is still not a task to be foolish about. Even a kitsune must take some caution in these lands, not only due to the nature of a dry world without cover, but due to the sparks that may let loose.
