Red Kitsune are probably the most numerous of all the Kitsune, accounting for approximately 40% of the Kitsune population. Their skill basis tends to be centered around intelligence, wisdom and morales, which they love to ponder, but they generally take less interest in the physical aspects of power and as a result are not especially fit in terms of speed and power when compared with other Kitsune (although their stamina may still be reasonable since that depends considerably more on magical strength, an area in which they are also capable). As a generalisation their relationships with blacks can vary greatly, but they often can become firm friends with desert Kitsune - grey Kitsune they will avoid, and white Kitsune they can have very dismissive opinions of.
In terms of build and appearance Red Kitsune obviously have their typical red fur. They are also in general the second largest subtype of Kitsune, though this can naturally vary. They tend to choose very vibrant colours later in life, with intricate patterns, especially ones which draw note to the eyes or tails, or occasionally the legs. Their fur is sleek, often shiny, and they regularly accentuate it with white and black in various places. Owing to their lack of physical strength they are also slight, but this doesn't tend to show up much since their dislike of the cold often causes them to opt for thicker fur. They pay strong heed to their senses, and their ears are often notably larger than their fox counterparts - though obviously the desert varieties usually have larger ears - and their eyes perhaps marginally larger than most Kitsune or foxes though not enough to make a significant difference.
Personalitywise, they are among the boldest of the species, with a strong outgoing streak and a self-confidence unmatched by any of the other kinds. They have a strong, firm character, with endless confidence and self-assurance, and can seem like the most alive of all the different Kitsune at times. They are constantly asking questions, wanting to know more about the situation they are in to improve their abilities and wisdom, along with their understanding of a situation, and if they are not given an answer will quite boldly seek it out themselves. They are the Kitsune 'who go where no Kitsune has gone before', and they are virtually unrestrainable at times. They have a particular love for verbal sparring and trials of intelligence, and endless respect and admiration for any who can prove themselves deserving of it. Despite the amount of thought they put into their 'self', they also understand that to understand ones self one must understand others, and so can be extremely extroverted, pushing themselves right in to be the heart and soul of any gathering. However, they are still very self-centered at times, and the label 'arrogant' is not undeserved. They also have a strong sense of vengeance and justice, which while at times is a qualiy to admire, also makes them unwise to anger. And if you do not have the respect of a Red Kitsune, you can expect to find them regularly on your back, and until you can earn their respect, there is little you can do about it.
A Red Kitsune will spend their life in great variety - very rarely can a Red Kitsune stick to one trail throughout their life owing to their boundless energy. They tend to enjoy spending it on exploration and discovery, and although their key quality is their wisdom and intelligence they will also enjoy learning about magic and exploring various areas and aspects of its use. In terms of magic types, their most common-known ones are fire and lightning, though they have been known to dabble in other arts from time to time. They place a high value on emotion and passion, and sometimes that alone can be enough to draw respect - however, they tend to favour their own species over others, treating them with slight distain until they prove themselves worthy of more than that.
IMPORTANT NOTE: These Kitsune are very rarely 'hyper' as such or energetic in a playful way - that kind of energy is primarily found in white Kitsune. Their energy doesn't go into play so much as focus and driven passion, along with a personality full of life and variation.
